What is IFSC Code?
IFSC stands for Indian Financial System Code. It is an 11-character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies each bank branch in India participating in the NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS electronic payment systems.
IFSC Code Format
An IFSC code consists of 11 characters where:
- First 4 characters represent the bank code (e.g., SBIN for SBI)
- 5th character is always 0 (reserved for future use)
- Last 6 characters represent the branch code
