Fact-Checking Policy

How we verify every IFSC code, financial calculation, and banking detail to ensure you get accurate, reliable information.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

At IFSC Banks, accuracy is the foundation of everything we do. Millions of Indians depend on our platform daily to find correct IFSC codes for their NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS transactions. A single incorrect digit in an IFSC code can cause a failed transfer or misdirected payment—which is why we treat data accuracy as our highest priority.

Our fact-checking policy outlines the rigorous verification procedures we follow to ensure that every IFSC code, bank branch detail, financial calculator formula, and banking guide published on our platform is accurate, up-to-date, and trustworthy. We maintain a 99.9% accuracy rate across our database of 150,000+ bank branches.

Fact-Checking Process

Every piece of data on IFSC Banks goes through a structured fact-checking pipeline before it reaches our users:

Primary Source Collection

Data is gathered directly from RBI publications, official bank websites, and regulatory filings.

Cross-Verification

Each data point is cross-verified against at least two independent authoritative sources.

Expert Validation

Banking and finance professionals validate the data for accuracy and contextual correctness.

Automated Monitoring

Our systems continuously monitor for changes in official records and flag discrepancies automatically.

Sources We Trust

Our fact-checking relies exclusively on authoritative, official sources. We never use unverified third-party data or user-submitted information without independent verification.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI)

India's central bank is our primary source for IFSC codes, MICR codes, and banking regulations. All IFSC data is cross-verified with RBI's official master list.

Official Bank Websites

Branch details, services, and contact information are verified against each bank's official website and branch locator tools.

NPCI

The National Payments Corporation of India provides authoritative data on payment systems, UPI, and interbank transaction protocols.

Government Gazettes

Official government publications for tax rates, financial regulations, and policy changes that affect our calculators and guides.

Verification Steps

Different types of content on our platform undergo specialised verification procedures:

Every IFSC code in our database is matched against RBI's official IFSC master list. We verify the 11-character alphanumeric format, the first four characters (bank identifier), and the last six characters (branch identifier). When banks merge or branches close, we update our records within 24 hours of the RBI notification.

All calculator formulas are verified against standard financial mathematics and industry-accepted methodologies. EMI calculations use the standard reducing balance method. SIP returns use XIRR-based methodology. Tax calculators are updated annually to reflect the latest Union Budget changes. Each formula is tested with known benchmark values before deployment.

Every claim, statistic, and procedure described in our banking guides is verified against official sources. Interest rates, fees, and charges are confirmed with official bank rate cards. Regulatory procedures are validated against RBI and government notifications. All articles include the date of last verification.

Corrections Policy

Despite our rigorous verification processes, we acknowledge that errors can occasionally occur. When they do, we are committed to correcting them quickly and transparently:

  • Minor corrections (typos, formatting) are fixed immediately upon discovery without a formal correction notice.
  • Data corrections (incorrect IFSC code, wrong branch details) are prioritised and corrected within 24 hours. The correction is noted in our update log.
  • Significant factual errors in articles or guides are corrected with a visible correction notice at the top of the content, explaining what was changed and when.
  • Calculator errors are treated as critical issues and fixed immediately, with all affected calculations flagged for user notification where possible.

We maintain an internal error log to track corrections and identify patterns that help us improve our verification processes over time.
